23.12.05. In previous years the orphans in our area (particularly Phu Hai, near Mui Ne), have been COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN. No church, no resort, no tourists and no locals visited them, brought them presents or showed them that somebody loves them or even remembers them. Please spend a meaningful Christmas and holiday season and make a difference in the lives of orphans. Cick Here for more information.
07.11.05 The Adoption Center of Washington, D.C held a silent auction on October 16th at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. to finance the construction and maintenance of a new orphanage in Ham Tan, near Phan Thiet. The amount collected from the Auction is $19,349 USD and they are still collecting money for prizes and receiving donations.
They have previously raised over $20,000 through donations. $15,000 has been sent to Vietnam to build a new orphanage . Construction was started in November 2004. $15,000 per year will care for 15 children in the orphange; and $12,000 will care for 50 elderly for one year. This orphanage should not be confused with the other orphanage in Phu Hai (near Mui Ne), although both are ultimately overseen by The Department of Labor, Invalid and Social Affairs in Phan Thiet. Please visit www.AdoptionCenter.com for more information, photos and to learn how you can contribute.
__08.05 Did you know there is an orphanage just outside Mui Ne Beach? They have about 30-35 children at the moment. Mostly babies and small children, but a few older kids too. At Christmas time not a single tourist went to visit them. Not a single resort brought them gifts or supplies. Not a single church went to see how they could help. Holidays, birthdays, special events go by day after day, week after week, month after month and they have been all but forgotten by the community and the foreigners who visit. Thankfully there are adoptions from time to time, but the orphanage is still full.
Make your vacation meaningful this year. Spend some time and resources with some children who need love. Ask your hotel receptionist or contact us if you would like to visit the orphanage or help with supplies. You may also click here for more detailed information.
