Binh Thuan Awarded for Mid-Autumn Festival
21.03.06 With an astouding 130 awards being handed out at the Vietnam tourism industry's Guide Awards, you might expect to even find a few cyclo and motorbike drivers among the recipients. The seventh annual wards this year will highlight excellence in tourism in regard to preserving Vietnam's cultural valies. The Novotel Phan Thiet and Victoria Mui Ne resorts are on the list of recipients, and now added is Binh Thuan Province for its Mid Autumn festival parade.
The Mid-Autumn festival on September 17, 2005, was the biggest Mid-Autumn festival so far in Binh Thuan, and Vietnam. 30 giant lanterns and 3,600 smaller lanterns were paraded by thousands of people. The celebration also includes a lantern design competition, dragon dance, and cake and fruit delicacies.
Binh Thuan's festivals are one if the province's best kept secrets. Allthough they draw lots of locals from around the province, they fail to attract international tourists, likely due to poor advertising and inadequate transportation. Still, the festivals held in Phan Thiet are elaborate cultural treasures and well worth the effort to observe them. The awards ceremony will be held at Novotel Resort in Phan Thiet City, on March 25.
Update on Guide Awards at Novotel Phan Thiet
16.03.06 The 7th annual Guide Awards will be held at the Novotel Hotel in Phan Thiet on March 25. The awards will be presented to the winners in recognition of their contributions and achievements to the country's development of tourism and services over the past year. Victoria Hotels and Resorts will receive the Pioneering Distant Destinations Prize for the best resorts and hotels in the areas of Sapa, Can Tho, Chau Doc and Phan Thiet. The Accor Group with four hotels in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh will be recognized with the Professional Service Prize.
Guide Awards to be Held at Novotel Phan Thiet
13.03.06 The four-star Ky Van resort in Vung Tau city has been voted the best resort in southern Vietnamfor the fourth time in a row by readers of the Vietnam Economic Times and The Guide magazine. Oddly, the award presentation ceremony for Guide Awards 2006 will be held at Novotel Resort in Phan Thiet city, on March 25.
